ABOUT PREEN
Preen is run by Edinburgh based makeup artist Rebekah McVitie who, along with Julie McGuire, offers bespoke hair and makeup design for weddings and special occasions, photographic, fashion and editorial.
Set up to offer a unique service throughout Scotland Preen can guarantee style and professionalism.
Preen are experts in their fields with many years experience of work in editorial, fashion, film and television. Their talents in both makeup and hair means they are successful, versatile and diverse.

JULIE:
Has worked with hair since 1987 and trained and worked in Edinburgh with Charlie Miller. In 1990 she won British Newcomer of the year which led to a shoot with Antony Moscolo and a fashion show for 19 magazine with Nicky Clarke. She has worked as an international freelance hairdresser for the last decade, working in Washington, Ibiza, Italy and most recently Amsterdam. Julie went on to do makeup courses at the London College of Fashion and in Amsterdam with Grimas. Most recently she worked on Brighton Television's Fashion Avenue as Jodie Kidd's hair and makeup artist. Julie is a maestro with hair and her skill, knowledge and experience means she can not only style your hair but take you through the whole process, cut, colour and style.

REBEKAH:
Rebekah has been a highly successful makeup artist since 1994. She trained at the highly prestigious London College of Fashion in hair and makeup. She worked in London as freelance makeup artist for over a decade working in film, television and editorial. Some of her many credits include Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Bad Girls, various editorial shoots, Time Out Magazine and a television campaign for Boots No .7 makeup. Rebekah has been fascinated by makeup since she was 7 and her product knowledge, coupled with independence will ensure you get the best products for you. Her open, honest and approachable manner means you will receive the look you desire and are comfortable with.

PREEN HAIR & MAKEUP

Offering a friendly and service we will ensure you look and feel beautiful on you big day. We will do all we can to make your day start in a calm and happy way. We will always arrive promptly so we are not rushing and you feel you have plenty of time to get ready. When you book PREEN your hair and makeup will be done in a relaxed and professional atmosphere. We strive to make you feel like the most beautiful bride in the world.

Trial Day

We recommend the trial take place not more than 12 weeks before the wedding, this time is recommended as by then most things are in place, dress, flowers, etc so you have a good idea of how your wedding will look. 6-8 weeks seem to be the best (some brides have it a fortnight before).

We ask you find images of the sort of thing you are looking for hair and makeup wise to bring with you on the day of your trial. If you can not find or do not know what you would like, then images of the sorts of things you like and find appealing will give us an idea of the direction to go in.

Wedding Day

It is your big day so we will ensure we do all we can to make it start in a calm and happy way. We will always arrive promptly, if not a little early, so we are not rushing and you feel you have plenty of time to get ready. This will all have been discussed in advance. Your hair and makeup will be done in a relaxed and professional atmosphere resulting in the look we arrive at on your trial day. We will make you feel and look like the most beautiful bride in the world.

Makeup Lessons

Celebrities, actresses and pop-stars always look great when we see them, why? It’s because they have access to professional makeup artists, their advice, secrets and tips for their public appearances.

Now you too can have the same access in the comfort and convenience of your own home. Whether it be for a special occasion or just because you would like to learn a bit more about makeup, Rebekah will come to you and work with you one to one or in a group.

Makeup Lessons can be book one to one or for groups. You will first discuss what you want to achieve from the lesson, be it how to get a good finish to your foundation or a whole new look, then Rebekah will take you through a step by step lesson on how to achieve these things. By the end of the lesson you will have gained the confidence to recreate what you have been shown and some great product knowledge. These lessons are great for those of you who have little or no idea about makeup as Rebekah has a huge trunk of makeup so you can find the right makeup for you without those hasty wasteful product purchases.

For special occasion makeup Rebekah will first start by talking through the look you require. She will talk you through the products that she thinks will be best to use so you get and understanding of the products, how to use them and where to buy them should you wish to purchase them after the session. She will also write down everything she has used for your reference.

Travel Outside of Edinburgh

We charge £30 an hour travel time for 2 stylists, plus petrol costs

Bookings

A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your date. This is deducted from the final balance which we receive on the day of your wedding. Please be aware that the deposit is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.

Changing or Cancelling Dates

Notice of change or cancellation of a date must be given either by emailing or telephoning us.

Changes in dates may be treated as a cancellation and a re-booking fee may apply.
Cancellation of a wedding booking less than 14 days before the day will be subject to a cancellation fee.

Time of Cancellation | Cancellation Fee

3-13 days before wedding Deposit plus 50% of quote fee.

0-2 days before wedding Deposit plus 100% of quoted fee.
